OUR WORK
We operate under the New Community Network charity as a restricted fund designated as the New Community Kibera Project. Company limited by guarantee number 3578938. Charity number 1072645.

A number of projects have been running for the last few years which have developed out of friendships and now incorporate a number of different community groups. Most of the actual work is carried out on a day-to-day basis by a small army of local Kenyan volunteers who are passionate about being part of bringing positive change to the Kibera community. They are supported by volunteers from the UK who join the twice-yearly trips to Kibera and provide remote support throughout the year via electronic communications. During the Covid pandemic, all physical trips to Kenya were curtailed, encouraging innovation in the ways we continue to encourage and support. Happily, we have been able to continue to operate and develop all our projects, albeit remotely from the UK. However we are pleased to confirm that we have made the first post covid visit in October 2022 and are planning several more visits in 2023.

Among the Kenyan community groups we work with are:

In the UK we partner with Living Waters Social Enterprises charity for fundraising geared especially towards self-sustainable development projects.

Regretfully New Community Kibera (UK) has dissolved its previous partnership with ICA Kenya.
