This week we celebrate the end of our first small business training course. Small business is the heartbeat of the Kibera slum and encouraging, training and supporting young entrepreneurs is a way in which we can help improve living standards for this community.
Congratulations to the eight participants and the local facilitators who have worked through the training programme over the past ten weeks. Some have already set up their new businesses, some have decided that owning a business isn't for them and others are preparing to launch.
That's not the end for this group. Apart from ongoing support, they've drawn up a list of business topics they'd like to cover in the next few weeks. And of course, it's not just about training, their success in part will depend on the mutual support they can give each other too.
